“You bring your own weather to the picnic.”
The Yeungs had our first ever family picnic last weekend. We had such a great time!
We first heard about Exploration Peak Park from one of our friends who came to visit Las Vegas. They raved how awesome the place was for kids. So we researched about it online and we just fell in love with the photos. We vowed to come here and take little Aria to play at the splash pads.
Here’s a little bit of info about the place. It’s very huge. I don’t think there’s a problem with the parking space.
Hot tip: Park on the left side of the parking lot for easier access to the playground. Park on the right side for better access to the picnic grounds (grassy area)
There’s a large play area that they recommend for children 2-5 years (according to their sign). You have to pay close attention to your kid though since there are areas where they could fall. The playground basically looks like an old cowboy town. There are lots to do. There’s even those little metal horses they could ride on. Lots of concrete tables and benches for the mamas and papas to sit on too. And there are canopies so the sun won’t hit you directly.
Anyway, the day finally came! Hubby decided the night before that we should have an impromptu family picnic while we were there. We didn’t have time to go grocery shopping so we made do on what we had at home. We definitely went simple with this one.
Guess what we made? It’s basically a mini spam musubi. Not the most healthy option for us but it’s a cheat day I suppose. And don’t worry, our little one had broccoli and beans for her that wasn’t included in the photo. And of course, it’s not a picnic without strawberries (or so I’ve heard).
She had so much fun choosing and eating her food.
Lucky for us, the weather was nice on our side of town. The sun was out which was perfect for playing in the splash pads. So bring a towel and bathing suits for the little ones!
Isn’t she just the cutest? She kept tiptoeing every time she walks. It’s probably best to have those waterproof shoes for your kids if they have sensitive skin.
And lastly, it’s a perfect place for photoshoots. And I definitely took advantage of this.
So overall, we had a perfect family day. We would definitely do it again soon.
